***MAKE SURE YOUR RIFLE IS UNLOADED BEFORE STARTING***
To identify the No1, Mk3, it has the rear sight located on the
barrel.
STEP #1 Remove Magazine. Open bolt and examine chamber to make
certain the chamber is empty. |

STEP #2 Remove the screw-clamped barrel band and upper
handguard. (Figure 1) Remove the lower forearm-to-barrel attaching screw.
(Figure 2) Remove the two screws in the trigger guard. Remove trigger
guard, noting the relationship between the trigger and the sear as
reference for reinstallation later. Lay rifle (magazine well facing
upward) on bench and carefully work stock forearm upward and off barreled
action. Lift off upper rear handguard. |

STEP #3 Remove buttstock by opening trap door on buttplate and
loosening attaching bolt. (Figure 3) (Bolt is usually a slotted-head so a
large blade screwdriver will be needed to remove it.) Note: Some of these
bolts may be extremely tight. |

STEP #4 Remove buttplate from Monte Carlo stock. Install the new
buttstock using the original rear stock attaching bolt. Tighten bolt.
Reinstall buttplate. |

STEP #5 Lay rifle (magazine well up) and
work the new Monte Carlo forearm down over the barreled action. You must
have the barrel band aligned with the hole in the forearm. Use original
forearm screw. Caution: Be certain trigger is properly engaged with sear.
Align trigger guard rear screw hole and start rear screw (Do not tighten.)
Install trigger guard front screw and tighten. Tighten trigger guard rear
screw. (Figure 4) Tighten forearm screw. |
